Instructor: Ram Neta. This course meets Monday – Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Caldwell 105.

How should we live our lives?  What sorts of things are really worth pursuing, and why?  Is it good to achieve knowledge?  Is it good to be free?  Is it good for us to live together in society?  If so, what makes these things good?  In this course, we will try to answer these questions.  We will read historically important works by Tolstoy, Plato, Descartes, Berkeley, and Rousseau, among others.
