Philosophy of Religion (PHIL 134, SECTION 002)

We will make a philosophical inquiry into 1) religious experience and belief; 2) Nietzsche’s critique of Christian morality and the logic of redemption; 3) Habermas and Pope Benedict XVI on Islam and democracy; 4) secularism as a concept, and religion in the public sphere; 5) traditional arguments for the existence of God; 6) contemporary empirical research on the psychology of religiosity.
